Relationship of Demography with other disciplines

Demography is the science that analyzes the size, structure and distribution of human community. There are many other aspects of the study of human community, such as social, biological, geographical, economic etc. The subject of study of all these scriptures is man. The only difference is that each scripture takes only one type of role of man as its subject matter. Economics is the study of economic aspect, geography is the science related to the natural environment, and the role of man in society is studied in sociology.

Therefore, it is natural that each discipline has a close relationship with each other. All these disciplines also keep encroaching on each other’s boundaries because no social science can be bound under fixed boundaries forever. The utility of social science lies in the fact that it adopts an interdisciplinary approach. Demography is as much dependent on other sciences for the study of its subject matter as on other sciences on Demography. The Russian demographyist Victor Petrov writes that, “Since the subject of all social phenomena is population, so demography touches all social and other sciences.” From the study so far, it becomes clear to us that the field of demographics is getting wider. Is . From the point of view of the convenience of study, the other branches of knowledge to which Demography is related to the study of its subject material and the facts related to it, are studied below.

Zoology and Demography
Population is a biological fact, so the following biological facts of population are studied under demography.
1. Birth rate and death rate 2. Change in birth rate and death rate 3. Trends in birth rate and death rate 4. Sex ratio 5. Age structure 6. Health level 7. Population growth etc.

Sociology and Demography
Population is a social theorem. The following facts related to this point of view are studied under sociology. Population 1. Family structure 2. Society and community 3. Nature of religion 4. Level of education 5, Caste system
6. Culture and Culture 7. Social Approach to Migration Explaining the sociological aspect of the study of demographics, E.W. Notestein has said that, “When a demographer expresses birth-rate figures, he has to remember that each number represents a son or a daughter; when death figures appear, he has to remember that each The number represents a sad event which, when he studies marriage, he has to remember that he belongs to a fundamental institution of human society.”

Geography and Demography

Population is an ecological phenomenon. Ackerman has expressed geography and demography very well. “Modern geographers have taken the cultural aspect of the earth. They tried to analyze it by relating it to ethnic and biological principles and place and to correlate the cultural aspects with the physical and life-related characteristics. Studied distribution. This aspect of distribution is included in both Demography and Geography.

1. Geographical distribution.

2 Due to geographical distribution.

3. Urbanization

4. Migration.

Economics and Demographics Under economics, the following characteristics related to population are studied:

1. Population and employment status.

2. The standard of living of the population

3. The level of income

The relationship between population and food items.

5. Population Dynamics.
6. Labor – Creation of Capital 7. Appropriation. 8. Productivity.
9. Efficiency of the population.
10. Expressing his opinion with respect to Manpower Planning Demography and Economics,

Spagler has said, in general, population change is considered to be just a change in data, whereas the change of population is a change in the whole economic system. bring. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account the interdependence of economic variables in demographic variables, it is also necessary to take into account those factors which bring changes in economic levels in such a way that they also change the demographic components. According to Prof. Pigoo, “Man is both the object of economic activities and also the means of production. In this way, man is the creator of all economic activities as well as the end.”

It is clear from the views of scholars that demography and economics are closely related to each other.

Demography and Anthropology

• There is also a very close correlation between Demography and Anthropology. The Oxford Universal Dictionary defines demography as a part of anthropology. Demography is that branch of anthropology which treats the statistics of births, deaths diseases etc. Prof. Harrison and YC, expressing the usefulness of anthropology for demography, have written, “The method of anthropology to study ancient remains is very useful for demography because through it we can seeCollects many demographic information related to the civilizations hidden in the trough of history. The study of similar subjects in these two disciplines is

the study of inbreeding,
